I thought that I would share with you a poem that I wrote. It has been published in a book titled "Songs of Honor" under a pen name.
~ In Memory of my Father ~
OLD MAN'S MOSSY TREE
Droplets fall from the heavens as mossy old tree
swings away given to blissful breeze,
as the old man sits lazily feeding silvery ducks
flies days filled o' memory. Grandeur adrift the times of
gone by years, could it be last Wednesday or perhaps last
Tuesday. Memories reach a bargain with Grandma Bessy's bacon,
iron skillet fried fish, aromas permeate up of delectable
distinction transcend to pallet. Mother's lovely angelic-like face
floating by on a cloud as a single dewdrop fills his sullen eye. Crisp,
ivory linens flap loudly, crackling in time with wind, to its will be
the day. Road snaps of twigs, footprints linger as huckster making
way for selling his wares, be it decades ago. Cherished of sweet and
now forlorn are frolicking days, tattered shoes and cranberry
suspenders, bells zinging out in tones of glee as the old man
vanishes gently into slumber, clinging to yesterday, with dear old ever
dependable friend, swaying weathered, mossy tree.
